Kampung Pulau Keladi Cultural Complex, Pekan
The Pahang Silk Weaving Center, amongst several facilities like handicraft booths, recreational areas and centres for traditional games, is included in the Pulau Keladi Village Cultural Complex. It was created with the goal of providing both exposure and knowledge about the weaving process as inherited from each generation to the next. The visitors are not only provided with oral and visual information but are also given the chance to see the weaving processes up close. They can then purchase pre-woven silks or even book a custom silk in advance by choosing from the plethora of prepared patterns. The Kampung Pulau Keladi Cultural Complex was officially opened by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Shahiruddin Ab. Moin on the 18th of May, 1996. In 2007, the construction of Tengku Ampuan Besar Meriam Tenun Pahang Diraja Institute was started, of which was completed in 2009. This institute stems from the joint efforts between the Pahang State Museum and Kraftangan Malaysia. The institute is believed to achieve its goal to educate and weavers that produce more creative and competitive .
